Training Materials for a Global Alliance Against Forced Labour

Forced labour is found in the world today in many forms.  Bonded labour, outright slavery, along with forms arising in the context of legal and illegal migration.  Private prison labour, usually also technically a form of forced labour contrary to international standards, has also raised the attention of the the international community.

In May 2005, the ILO issued its Global Report under its Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, on the subject of forced labour.  In A Global Alliance Against Forced Labour, the ILO paints a dynamic picture of forced labour in the world today, including an estimate of the numbers affected.

LiD's assignment was to develop accessible training materials specifically aimed at governments, employers' and workers' organizations, with a clear focus on action-taking.  The materials were published in March, 2006.
